Message from Jillian:

Hi! My name is Jillian Tumblin and I am a zebra warrior! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for purchasing. This helps raise money for neuroendocrine tumor research.
In early 2018 I began having trouble swallowing solid foods. I was concerned after a few days and initially went to a doctor who told me I was having anxiety that was causing the issue. Fast forward throughout the year and I continue to struggle. I sought more answers and continued to see countless doctors. As 2018 turned into 2019 I began to rapidly gain weight. Doctor after doctor told me my issues were that I was over weight, had acid reflux, and it was all in my head.
As I came up on almost exactly year two of having troubles with solid foods I wound up in the ER. They brushed me aside and told me to go get a colonoscopy. I called a gastroenterologist that day crying to be seen. I was given the next possible appointment the following day.
I met with a doctor who was greatly concerned about me and asked to also do an endoscopy. I agreed despite having one a few months prior. A week after my appointment she called and let me know that I have multiple neuroendocrine tumors in my stomach. I was shocked but so glad to have answers.
The next few months were a whirlwind. Countless full body scans, blood work, breath tests. All confirming though these are slow growing tumors they needed to be removed. When Covid cases began to rise and ORs were cleared for only non elective surgeries mine was moved up. Before going in to surgery I decided that I wanted to do something crazy. I wanted to run a marathon. So the day before surgery I signed up for the dopey challenge. I ended up having 40% of my stomach and my appendix removed.
Recovery was extremely hard in the hospital and at one point I wanted to die. But I recovered after a week and was sent home. As the weeks went by I started to get better and back to how I was before 2018. I started training hard for dopey when it was cancelled due to Covid. I was devastated. That was the only thing I was looking forward to during my hard times.
I then found Fred’s Team with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center who would get my bib to a race I wanted all while letting all of my donations go to the research of the tumors that I had. It was the best possible outcome I would have ever wanted. I can’t believe I will be running the London Marathon in October 2022.
So here I am, finding ways to raise $10,000 for cancer research. Thank you for purchasing from Fluffy Fizzies and sticking it to cancer!
